Conscious, heart-centered entrepreneurs often struggle with the idea that effective
marketing is hype-y, sales-y or inauthentic. And for some, there is actually a
conflict, but the problem isn't with the marketing - it's within the entrepreneur. Here are
three steps you can take to create authentic alignment between your beliefs and your marketing:
- (1)
You must passionately believe both in
what you do, and in yourself.
If you don't
passionately believe in what you do, you
can't market it effectively. Most conscious
entrepreneurs believe in what they do, but
many have doubts about themselves. For
example, if you're thinking 'What if I can't
actually make a difference for people?', 'What if the work
I do doesn't work for everyone?', or 'Who am I to do this
work?' this will damage the energy, and the effectiveness of
your marketing. What to do: Do the inner work that you need
to do in order to believe in yourself and the difference that
you, and you alone, can make in the world.
(2) You must be more interested in the mindset of your client than you are in your own. Marketing is all about what your clients are thinking - their language, their thoughts, their worldview. If you insist on talking from your understanding of their issues, rather than from their language and understanding, they won't feel heard. And they won't buy from you. What to do: Learn from and talk to your clients so that you can express their language effectively.
(3) You must be willing to take a stand to make a difference in the world, even if it means that everyone won't like you. You're not going to be able to serve everyone in the world. Some people will get annoyed with you when you take good business measures, such as setting authentically sharing your beliefs, promoting your services or products, or charging appropriately for your valuable services. If you worry more about being liked than about creating a business that is designed to prosper, you'll end of serving very few people (and you won't like them very much). What to do: Be very clear on your mission, and work with a coach or mastermind group who can help keep you focused on your goals. When you're thinking about the big picture - the difference that you can make in the world with a successful business instead of an unsuccessful one - you'll be less concerned with those few naysayers.
Marketing can be both authentic and effective, as long as you've done the work to see yourself as aligned with a vision of success, connection and professionalism.

Meridian Tapping Tips for Authentic, Effective Marketing
(If you are unfamiliar with Meridian Tapping, please visit my
'Get Started Tapping' page. We covered several different ideas above, so this routine
only mentions a few of the possibilities. Feel free to alter the statements to
target your own issues.
Setup statement (tap the KC point):
Even though I don’t believe I can really make a difference, I choose to accept
myself anyway.
Even though I don’t know how to market, I choose to be open to learning.
Even though there people who won’t like me if I run a successful business, I choose to focus on the difference I can make in the world.
Do several rounds, tapping on each of the tapping points, using the following reminder phrases, or make up your own:
I don’t know if I can market authentically.
How can I say that I can really help someone?
What if I can’t?
I don’t believe that I can actually make a difference.
I don’t know that all my clients will get these results.
I don’t know how to market effectively.
What if people get upset at me?
When any doubt or concern has dropped to a 5 or below (on a 0-10 scale), or you begin to feel a shift, do at least one round, tapping on each of the tapping points, using the following reminder phrases or make up your own:
What if I could market authentically and effectively?
What if this is something that I can learn to do?
I'm open to a surprising new possibility.
What if this is what I’m meant to do?
I’m open to the idea that I’ve been given all the gifts and tools I need.
What if I can learn to speak the language of my clients?
I choose to believe that I can make a difference.
I choose to focus on the big picture, and make a difference in the world with my success.
Keep tapping until you feel a shift and believe that you can market
authentically and effectively!
